Industry Veteran Charles "Pip" Smith named new General Manager of Super D Independent Distribution (SDID)
IRVINE, CA – Super D, the Worldwide Entertainment Wholesaler Retailer announces an organizational change within Super D Independent Distribution (SDID).
As of August 8, 2011, Charles "Pip" Smith is named the new General Manager of Super D Independent Distribution (SDID). In this new role Mr. Smith, who has been Import Sales Manager since September of 2008, will oversee all Super D Independent Distribution (SDID) which boasts a rich and diverse label and studio roster including ToneTree, American Beat, Collectors’ Choice Music, Bandai Entertainment, Blackheart Records, Distribution 13, Light in the Attic, and Wounded Bird. Pip brings years of independent distribution experience to his new role, including stints with Schwartz Brothers, Ryko, DNA and the Welk Music Group.
SDID was previously headed by Gabby Castellana, who will be departing his post as Vice President/General Manager of SDID on August 5, 2011. Castellana said of his successor "With Pip’s industry knowledge and distribution experience I’m very confident he will do a fantastic job in his new role as General Manager of SDID." Mr. Castellana joined Super D in November 2010 after the acquisition of Infinity Resources Inc. and will be leaving to form a new reissue label venture, Real Gone Music, with former head of Collectors’ Choice Music, Gordon Anderson.
